In case you don’t know the Ontario government let us know right before the week-long March break started that for at least two weeks after schools would be closed. So that means a lot of home learning will be going on in many different households. It’s important to teach our children the literature of the past and introduce them to the culturally relevant literature of today. If you’re a parent of school age children… you know what a reading log is. I’ve included a basic book log in black and white and colored versions. Then I have a different styled reading log for kids. A good way to help encourage that love of reading, is to use a reading log.

If you are setting goals, the recommended minimum for reading is 20 minutes a day. However, you can go even further and capture author’s name, briefly describe a plot and key insights or favorite scenes. Overall, you can choose whatever format you like and download a template that will fit it perfectly well. Start summarizing your thoughts, experiences and emotions in a well-organized way with the simple printable reading log. When you track the books you read, you will find that you read more.
